The cultural association 'Primer Desembarco Carlos V' and the Villaviciosa City Council have announced the cancellation of all the events commemorating the Landing of Charles V at Tazones in 1517, scheduled for August 22nd and 23rd, and which this year would be its 40th edition.
An exhibition of photos and panels in the streets of Tazones will serve to remember this popular recreation, declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Principality of Asturias, and part of the Cultural Itinerary of the Council of Europe 'Cooperation Network of the European Routes of Emperor Charles V'.
Despite the importance of this program for the cultural and tourist offer of the municipality, the organizers of the Landing have assessed the impossibility of holding an event that every year concentrates thousands of people, both in Tazones and in Villaviciosa, given the current situation of health alert. The exceptional nature and impact on public health of the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 requires responsibility and a high commitment to all prevention and containment measures, both by the public authorities and by society as a whole.
