Unlike the XX Route of the Emperor for hikers, held the previous Saturday, the good weather accompanied the riders and amazons — near 300— took part in the equestrian version of that route, held on Saturday, February 9th, and that this year celebrates its XVIIth edition.
A nice journey in part enlivened by the folk group Las Nogales, from Aldeanueva de la Vera (Cáceres), that began in the early morning with the handing over of the royal flags to the participants; flags that waved along the route —after crossing Aldeanueva de la Vera and Cuacos de Yuste— until their arrival at the Monastery of Yuste, where they were received by the Prior of the Order of St. Paul the First Hermit.
"This year the number of participants on the route has increased dramatically," says Quintín Correas, director-manager of the Network for the Cooperation of the Routes of the Emperor Charles V, which is a gratification for the work carried out in order to offer an attractive proposal to riders and amazons. The response obtained encourages us and, at the same time, is a challenge in order to offer them new attractions for the next year's edition".
