The General Assembly of the Route Network of Emperor Charles V, meeting for two days in Finsterwalde (Germany), has approved its new Board of Directors, as well as the calendar of activities for 2020 and other initiatives, with the aim of increasing its weight as a vehicle for cultural, economic and social revitalization in the territories where said network is implemented.
In this way, the new board of directors, unanimously approved by the General Assembly, is consists of 16 members, and its presidency will be assumed by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste in the person of Don Miguel Ángel Martín, coordinator of Affairs Europeans of that foundation; It has two vice-presidencies: Rosa Nicoletta Tomasone, from the L’Einaudi Cultural Center, and Fréderique Honoré, director of the Coudenberg Palace in Brussels; a secretary, Fermín Encabo, mayor of Jarandilla de la Vera (Cáceres); and is completed with the participation of José María Hernández, mayor of Cuacos de Yuste (Cáceres), as treasurer.
Thar Board of Directors has reviewed the activities carried out during 2019, and presented an outline of those that will be developed during the next year. Year of importance for our route network, since it coincides with the celebration of the fifth centenary of the coronation of the emperor in Aachen (Germany). Calendar of activities that, as the new president of the Route Network of Emperor Charles V, Miguel Ángel Martín, comments, “will be enriched in the coming weeks and months with new activities, since the aim is to offer a program attractive enough to generate more participation of the associates and, therefore, to build a strong network, which constitutes a dynamic element of the territories in which it is based. ” Activities and calendar that were also approved unanimously by the General Assembly held in Finsterwalde (Germany).
Assembly in which, in addition, the budget for next year has been approved. Budget that has adapted to the new network structure after the regularization and updating of its number of associates.
One of the major issues proposed by the Board of Directors to its General Assembly is the homogenization of the signaling of the routes that make up the network, similar to what already exists in other European networks. In this sense, initiatives are already underway both in Spain and in Italy to establish a homogeneous signaling and adapted to the regulations of each country; initiative that runs in parallel with the study of a cycling route project to be exploited within our route network, to facilitate and expand its use and enjoyment by BTT lovers. This measure will imply the implementation of a pilot project already in Spain in 2020 to, from there, extrapolate it to other territories of the network.
Finally, we must highlight the holding of three boards of the Route Network of Emperor Charles V: March in Brou (France), August in Medina del Campo (Spain), and December in Lisbon (Portugal). Also, a meeting of our scientific committee will held in Brussels (Belgium) and an International Forum of Charles V focused on the fifth centenary of his coronation throughout the month of October. In addition, it should also be noted that the General Assembly of the Route Network corresponding to the year 2020 will take place on August 20th and 21st in Medina del Campo (Valladolid), coinciding with the celebration of the Renaissance Week of that villa; which in 2020 commemorates precisely the fifth centenary of the burning of Medina del Campo.
